Tapping news

As the Sugaring season starts to heat up here at Bennett Farm Maple we are working whenever weather permits to get all our taps in before the sap starts to flow. That means putting on our snowshoes and trudging through the deep snow to reach every tree. We also make sure to look out for the health of the tree this entire process. This is done by implementing a rotational tapping system, meaning we never re-drill old tap holes. Each new tap is at least 2 inches horizontally over and preferably at least a foot vertically changed. By following these guidelines we ensure our maple trees can heal and continue with a healthy sap flow for generations to come.
